JOHN DEERE 455 Production History
The JOHN DEERE 455 was first introduced in 1992. Part of John Deere’s 400 Series, the garden tractor was produced at the manufacturer’s Horicon, Wisconsin factory in the United States. The 455 JOHN DEERE replaced the 430 and was eventually succeeded by the JOHN DEERE X495. It was a larger version of the JOHN DEERE 445. Production of the JOHN DEERE 455 diesel tractor ended in 2011.
JOHN DEERE 455 Specs
The JD 455 was fitted with a three-cylinder, 881-cc Yanmar diesel engine. It was also equipped with a Tuff Torq K91 transmission that offered infinite forward and reverses gears. The 22-horsepower (16.4 kW) garden tractor reached forward speeds of up to 8.5 miles per hour (or 13.7 km/h). It featured a mid-body 2000 rpm power take-off (PTO). An option for a 540 rpm rear PTO was also available as an add-on. Other JOHN DEERE 455 lawn tractor specifications included hydrostatic power steering and differential lock as standard. An original JOHN DEERE 455 for sale from dealers was also available with four-wheel steering as an option.
The standard version of the tractor weighed 956 pounds (437 kilograms) and had a wheelbase of 50.4 inches (128 centimetres). The all-wheel steering model weighed 1,060 pounds (480 kg) and featured a smaller wheelbase of 49.4 inches (125 cm). The 455 measured 75 inches (190 cm) in length and 48 inches (121 cm) in width. It was 51.2 inches (130 cm) high. The JOHN DEERE 455 lawn mower was available with 48-, 54- and 60-inche mower deck attachments. The 54-inch mower deck was included as standard with the 455 model from JOHN DEERE. Additional optional attachments include a 46- or 47-inch snow blower, blade, and front-end loader.
